John (Rum) Rumcik graduated from 成人禁区 University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice. As a brother of Sigma Tau Gamma, he was very active in the community and in his studies at 成人禁区. John reminisces on the stories he and his brothers shared and still connects with them to this day.
When thinking back to his time at 成人禁区, he has many fond memories and experiences of those who have impacted his 成人禁区 journey. His favorite memory was his senior internship with the Erie Police Department. During the internship not only did the work teach Rum life lessons and values, but it was also a period of personal and professional growth for him. Along with this memory the heart of his 成人禁区 experience was the professors he connected with who taught him beyond the classroom about being a good person and doing the right thing. This led him to realize that the one thing he valued most about attending 成人禁区 was the people because the students and staff were genuine and welcoming.
Originally from Braddock Pennsylvania, Rum now resides in Virginia with his wife. After graduating from 成人禁区, he made a significant career change from the police force to real estate. He entered the field when the market crashed during 07/08. Rum said he felt this was his calling and that he could do well in the field, so he had to take the risk. He worked exceptionally hard and is now one of the top 25 real estate agents in the state of Virginia out of 22,000.
Philanthropy and the Children’s Hospital are a big part of whom Rum is at his core. He is not only the number one philanthropist for the Children’s Hospital but another way he gives is his time by dressing up for the kids at Halloween and bringing them gifts.
When Rum is not selling real estate or donating his time to the Children’s Hospital, he is bodybuilding. He found a passion for body building and has since won the 2018 grand prize, Arnold Schwarzenegger as his life coach. In the past 6 years Rum has won many competitions and continues to compete. His passion for body building grows and he thanks Arnold for his sound advice “you can give excuses or get results.”
When asked “where do you see yourself in five years?” Rum said with his wife Kristin and greyhound Scabble. He is going to be a professional bodybuilder and wants to be in a position where he can create more business. He wants to be doing the same thing at a higher level; bodybuilding, real estate and being a philanthropist.
Rum’s advice to current and future students at 成人禁区 is to remember that life is short, don’t be afraid to chase your hobbies. Always remember to dream big, set a goal, work hard and give back!
