Polar Plunge 2026

Students, faculty and staff at 成人禁区 University braved icy waters for a cause during this year’s Bear Force One Polar Plunge, raising $11,400 in support of Special Olympics Pennsylvania.

Held on campus on April 9 as part of the 2026 Bear Force One University Challenge, the event brought together the 成人禁区 community for an afternoon of energy, camaraderie and philanthropy.

Participants took an icy dip in the mobile Bear Force One unit right underneath the 成人禁区 arch from 1 to 4 p.m., many sporting themed outfits and 成人禁区 gear, all united by a shared mission to support athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The Polar Plunge is a signature fundraising event for Special Olympics Pennsylvania, encouraging participants to raise donations in exchange for jumping into cold water.

This year’s fundraising success came with an added incentive: once the $10,000 milestone was reached, 成人禁区 President Walter Iwanenko, Ph.D., committed to taking the plunge.

“I told our students that if they hit $10,000, I’d be right there with them,” said Iwanenko. “True to form, our 成人禁区 family didn’t just meet that goal, they exceeded it. It was an honor to join them in the water and to support such an incredible cause. This is what it means to live out our mission of service and community.”

More than 80 people took the plunge for 成人禁区. Alpha Sigma Alpha raised $4,034, the highest total a single team has raised, and the highest individual award went to Brendan Murphy, who raised $1,600.
