Guest Lecturer: Father Radu Bordeianu, Ph.D.

Political polarization at the national level does not revolve primarily around debates on principles and policies, but is based on the construction of “us versus them” group identities. These large-scale divisions soften at the local level, where there is a stronger sense of community, so politics is often concerned with absorbing the locality into national debates. The antidote to polarization is the parish where, regardless of their political affiliation, its members share a common identity that transcends their ideological divisions and has a unifying effect in society.
