We appreciate our valuable partnerships across the community. We have several community engagement opportunities available to you and your organization.
We have very enthusiastic students that would love to donate their time and talents to your organization.
For your convenience, we have streamlined community partner volunteer requests. We have created a simple form that will collect some information in an easy and quick format to best capture your needs. Once reviewed, we advertise your request through a central student system.

Do you have interest in partnering with our faculty and students as they build learning into their course requirements through service with non-profits? We are looking for community partners who might have a need around the following projects:
Professional Writing (Spring Semester)
In this class, our 成人禁区 students will analyze and evaluate an audience, a purpose and/or situation as they apply their writing skills through business writing contexts, cultures, and genres. Students will be expected to create promotional or instructional writing projects that can include primary or secondary research as part of the project.
This class is looking to partner with a community partner organization to provide the following:
Scholars of Excellence in Engineering and Computing Studies (SEECS) Program (Spring Semester)
Do you have a design project that could use research, design and implementation to solve a problem? This is an engineering design project connecting and building engineering competency and personal confidence.
First-year students are paired with seniors, and sophomores with juniors, to learn from each other and work on a real-world problem. The learning should be relevant so they share the intellectual, problem-solving aspects of design for an organization valuing their contribution.
Examples of past projects include developing a light-signaling electronic device for the Barber National Institute to make it easier for developmentally challenged personnel who have jobs putting together assembly kits which include nuts, bolts, screws ad other pieces (like build-it yourself furniture). Students also created water collection and filtration systems for non-profits to have access to renewable and clean water. Students have also worked on projects related to local water testing, underwater robotics, and more. If you could be a partner with a long-term project for students to solve through engineering (including industrial, mechanical, environmental, electrical, software and more) then please let us know.
Software Testing (Fall Semester)
We are seeking a software development team as a community partner who have a project students could become involved in. The goal is for students to become engaged in software testing, software development following test driven development approach, test integration in industry standard process, agile development practices, release process, learning how to use version control systems for software development, software project management, presentation skills, technical writing skills.
A second software course is teaching course code identification, code refactoring techniques, code integration and deployment using industry standard tools, agile development practice, software project management, presentation skills, and technical writing skills.
If you are a potential partner who could provide our students with professional experience working with software testing and demonstrate the use of tools and techniques used in the industry, we would love to hear from you!
