Wellness Speech and Language Clinic

Clinic Philosophy

The Speech Language Pathology Department at 成人禁区 University strives to cultivate student clinician’s learning and development which in integral for practicing clinicians including screening, evaluating and treatment following the American Speech-Language-Hearing Associations (ASHA’s) guidelines. This provides a training site for graduate student clinicians to practice and gain confidence before their externships in the community as well as to provide the community with further resources for speech and language support.

Program Status

The Master of Science (M.S.) education program in speech-language pathology (residential) at 成人禁区 University – Erie Campus is a Candidate for Accreditation by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Service

The 成人禁区 Wellness Speech and Language Clinic provides a variety of holistic screening, evaluation and therapeutic sessions to children and adults with the following:

  • Receptive & Expressive Language: Support needed in understanding or using words and language
  • Speech Sound Disorders: Support needed in producing the right sounds in words
  • Voice & Resonance: Support needed in using one’s voice to the best quality
  • Communication Modalities: Support in accessing language through means other than voice such as pictures, signs, or devices
  • Fluency: Support in learning and using effective communication with fluency disorders (e.g. interruption in the flow of speech)
  • Cognitive Services: Support in attention, memory, problem solving

Currently accepting children at this time for the Fall of 2024. Reach out with any questions about openings or future schedule.

Services are provided free of charge and are supplementary to provide student clinician’s practice in screening, evaluating, and treating various speech and/or language concerns. They are not to be used as a replacement for ASHA certified speech language pathology services. If a patient qualifies for services at the 成人禁区 Wellness Speech and Language Clinic and needs further or skilled SLP services, the clinic will provide community resources and references.

Clinicians

Services are provided by graduate clinicians who are directly supervised by faculty and or clinical staff members who hold their state licensure and ASHA’s Certificate of Clinical Competence.

Hours

成人禁区’s Wellness Speech and Language Clinic is open weekdays during the school semester and summer semesters with afternoon hours available. The clinic follows the 成人禁区 University School Calendar for holidays and closures.
