A comprehensive knowledge base is the foundation of effective performance. This is achieved through a plan of study that focuses on increasing performance proficiency under the supervision of qualified faculty and staff and seven different clinical sites, including one that is 40 miles from Erie. Students are responsible for transportation to and from each clinical site. 

Within the 24-month curriculum are five continuous semesters of classroom/laboratory learning and clinical education. Clinical education is much different than classroom learning and instruction. It takes place in actual imaging facilities and involves performing diagnostic imaging exams on real patients. Students spend 24 to 32 hours per week (3-4 days) at a clinical site and eight to 16 hours per week (1-2 days) in the classroom during the last 14 months of the program. The combination of this time does not exceed 40 hours per week.  Attendance is not only required, it is necessary for successful development of competences in the performance of radiographic examinations.

The hours for clinical assignments differ depending on the assignment and the semester.  You can expect to have assignments with the following hours:

• 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. or 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. weekdays
• 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.  Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays
• 5 a.m. to noon weekdays
