Achieve the Possibilities
Students will gain a high-quality education that enables success in the rigors of graduate school or a future profession. Through an array of program opportunities, you can:
Gain the foundational knowledge needed to obtain certification offered through nationally recognized organizations at the conclusion of the first semester of graduate school.
Secure valuable careers in the sport, physical activity and health professions to improve human performance and combat chronic diseases.
MSAEP Degree Options
Tailor your degree to align with your career aspirations by selecting one of the two options available. Students will complete 24 credit hours of coursework as well as 6 credits of either the internship or research track.
Internship
Choose to complete over 300 hours of hands-on experience as a strength and conditioning intern with one of 成人禁区’s 23 athletic teams, with local semi-professional sports teams or local fitness facilities.
Or choose to gain over 300 hours of hands-on clinical experience in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation with one of the two main hospital systems in Erie as an exercise physiology intern.
Thesis
Conduct a research-based, faculty supervised, scientific study that will culminate in the preparation and defense of the master’s thesis.
This option prepares the student not only for mid-level employment in the field but also entrance into doctoral programs should they choose to continue their education.
Students will use the first summer session to review current research in the field and to develop a research question of their own. The fall and spring will consist of development, preparation and defense of the master's thesis. While this is certainly an aggressive time frame, provisions are in place that will allow students to extend their graduate program until the thesis project is completed.
