Admission Requirements

The following lists admissions requirements for the Physician Assistant Program in Ruskin, FL.

  • A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • A minimum 3.0 overall GPA is required
  • A minimum 3.0 science course GPA is required
  • A minimum 3.0 prerequisite course GPA is required
  • Course prerequisites must have been completed within the last ten years
  • Recommendation forms from three evaluators
  • A personal interview
  • Applications will be reviewed upon receipt. The program has a preference for applicants with high GPAs.

Prerequisites 

Prerequisite Course Requirements for entry into the Post-Baccalaureate PA program include (must be completed prior to enrollment):

  • General Chemistry (or above) including 2 credits of lab:  8 credits
  • Human Anatomy*:  3 credits
  • Human Anatomy Lab*:  1 credit
  • Human Physiology* :  3 credits
  • Human Physiology Lab :  1 credit
  • Genetics (200 level or above):  3 credits
  • Medical Terminology :  1-3 credits                                 
  • Statistics:  3 credits
  • Microbiology (Medical Preferred) :  3 credits
  • Microbiology Lab :  1 credit
  • Psychology:  3 credits

* Anatomy & Physiology 1 and Anatomy & Physiology 2 course and lab sequences are acceptable

Prerequisite courses must be from a regionally accredited college or university.

Advanced standing is not granted in the program.

No credits are awarded for experiential learning.

Recommended Courses

  • 30 hours of documented volunteer/paid medical experience or 30 hours of shadowing a Physician Assistant - Documentation will need provided and signed by preceptor on organizational letterhead or the 成人禁区 University hours template on CASPA.
  • Acuity Insights Assessments - admissions assessments of non-cognitive skills

    All applicants are required to complete as part of the admissions cycle. To complete Acuity Insights Assessments, please visit  to create an account and complete the following assessment.

    • Casper: 90-110 minutes in duration; register for CSP-20100 - U.S. Professional Health Sciences. The assessment focuses on a situational judgment test (SJT) with video and word-based scenarios.

    Please register as soon as possible and at least one month prior to the December 1 application deadline.

    The final test date for the 2024-2025 admissions cycle is November 14, 2024.

  • All international students must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and Test of Spoken English (TSE) exams.  A minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper test) or 250 (computer-based test) and a minimum TSE score of 50 are required for application.
